The Pavement Project

I am pleased to announce a new an ongoing fine art photography project entitled "The Pavement Project".

A collection of images based around the beauty that is beneath our feet that we literally just walk past oblivious to it's existence.

I realize many just won't "get it" and if so I have succeeded. Art should challenge the senses, confuse the mind and inspire the soul ....... enjoy

Obsession by amanda Robinson

Obsession by Amanda Robinson

A really simple book cover this week. Photographed in London on my first night walking the streets on while on assignment. Although the image below is VERY colourful in reality it wasn't. Yes there was a blue hue to the image as it was what us photographers call "blue hour". The original curtains weren't red at all (I changed that in Photoshop to represent a brothel) -- opppsss ---- sorry house owner !!

The Burning World

The Burning World by Isaac Marion

An American cover this week from Isaac Marion. A composite image that the designer has put together. The doors and walls were taken in an abandoned Statley Home in the North East of the UK. The shodows and external view are additions by the designer.

Condenados

 Condenados by Glenn Cooper

A Spanish cover this week, translated means CONDEMNED.

The stone staircase is actually from York in the UK leading up onto the historic wall. The designer has then added the barred gate and sunlight streaming through.

Pójdź-na-sąd-boży

Pójdź-na-sąd-boży by Mariusz Ziomecki

A Polish cover this week with a pretty messed up Google translation ........

Come on the court God --- (which I am PRETTY sure is incorrect) !!

What I can say with 100% accuracy is the image was taken in an old abandoned court house in the North East of the UK. The model is a good friend of mine Alan Clarke (who is also a very accomplished photographer ---- who just happened to bring an axe with him on the photoshoot ----- as you do ?!?!)

Ténèbres, Ténèbres

Ténèbres, Ténèbres by John Harvey

A French cover this week.

Translated (according to Google ---- my disclaimer for EVERYTHING) is .......

Darkness, Darkness.

Yet again a super simple image taken at a coal mine (through an office window) !!

Die Unbekannte Terroristin

The Unknown Terrorist by Richard Flanagan

I always love to see this image being used in various ways and on different covers. This has to be favorite version so far I have to say. The designer has used just a small portion of the image and inverted (made it into a negative) from my original version.

The image was "created" in my studio by photography many, many, many Dandelion Clock seeds and then layering and blurring them differing amounts to give depth - a HUGE task at the time but one that has paid dividends over time :)

Kong

Kong by Stephane Ferret

I would love to say this novel is about King Kong but alas I fear not. The only information I can find is that it is a detective novel based in Manhattan.

The image itself was captured in 2015 while I was on assignment in New York. The day was nothing special so I decided to "Dave" it a little and add blood ;)

Although I am very pleased with the cover I have to say the "KONG" typeface certainly isn't what would have chosen ;)

Retour a watersbridge

Retour a Watersbridge by James Scott

I just wish Google Translate was better ------ here is what it has given me (wish I had been better at languages at school) !!

Back watersbridge by James Scott

The image used for this cover was shot in the States while on holiday ------- my poor suffering wife huffing behind me with mutters of "HURRY UP"

You just can't rush art ;)

I have to say I am very please with this cover as i feel it looks really good :)

SNEL GELD

The Son

The Son by Jo Nesbo

Every book cover photographer wants a Jo Nesbo in their collection ......... I am no different !

I am VERY lucky that this isn't my first and hopefully not my last.

The image itself is actually a composite that I created. The shadow of the wire fence was taken while I was a tour of a historic prison in America. The silhouette is actually me photographed back in my studio in Manchester, UK. Drop them both together and Hey Presto !!

Find Her

Find Her by Lisa Gardner

A book cover I came across while at Manchester Airport waiting to fly out on holiday !!!

I actually didn't even know about this cover ---- however ---- I can spot one of my images at 1000 yards !!!

This is actually a composite image using the background (which is mine) and then the designer has added the figure later. The large arched window is actually an underground car park in Manchester. These spaces were originally used for storage underneath the main train lines built in Victorian times, now damp and moody (my photographic hunting ground) !!

Der Todes Prophet by Chris Karlden

The Death Prophet by Chris Karlden

A simple studio shot of "yet again" my Brother In Law Scott from a series on addiction undertaken a number of years ago. This image has been modified by the designer as the original was somebody injecting themselves, but obviously that doesn't fit with the plot so lots of darkening has been done to lose the arm at the bottom of the frame.

Still looks good though :)

Stesso Sangue

Stesso Sangue is a collection of stories by

Nesbo, Lansdale, Fois, Guccini & Macchiavelli.

Translated it means "Same Blood" ----- well Google says it it !

The actual photograph was taken while I was training a staff photographer at a large chemical plant in the UK. The company needed to expand and built a site across the road. This cause untold problems for staff and deliveries ----- so the built this cool underground tunnel. As most of my customers think it is "cool" that I create book cover many go out of their way to find me locations.

The Stranger

The Stranger by Harlan Coben

I always LOVE getting book covers for prolific famous authors :)

When you consider the opposition it is a great honor and achievement to even get considered !

As book covers go this was a "VERY" tricky cover to achieve this one !! The figure (yep my brother-in-law again) was shot in my studio in Manchester, UK. The window was photographed in an old derelict asylum in Wales a number of years ago. Placing the figure "behind" the dirty glass was always going to be tricky!

Good job I am an Adobe Community Professional then ;)

Desde las tinieblas

DESDE LAS TINIEBLAS by Jordi Badia and Luisjo Gomez

Another Google translate (so sorry) "FROM DARKNESS"

This is a composite image. The background is an old empty farm building in Fuertaventura in the Canary Islands and the figure is actually my brother in law (who is one of my regular models) and was shot at my studio back in the UK.
